Hey SNL, if you’re going to make fun of a guy for being a bad person, maybe you don’t want to hire a person who yells racial epithets at photographers, gay slurs at a gossip columnist and called his daughter a pig to play the bad guy.

Phil Hartman did the best Trump.

Today in whoops – C-Span invited people to text their opinions of the debate ton C-SPAN on Monday night. They didn’t hear from any viewers. A bartender in DC named Tripp Diaz, however, got 13,000 text messages. Yes, they gave out his phone number.

C-Span has not commented on the mix-up but Verizon told Diaz she will not be charged for any of the messages.

2016 has just been a horror. The death of Gary Glasberg is awful. Glasberg was 50, went to bed last night and never woke up. He was the executive producer of both NCIS and NCIS: New Orleans. His production company credit at the end of the show is the flying pig.

At my time at the BMC, I’ve dealt with lots of television shows and uniformly, the NCIS siblings are just run by the most sane and respectful people. Several reporters in their stories about Glasberg’s death wrote about how nice he was in interviews (and he did a ton last week with the cast changes for NCIS and NCIS: New Orleans). From TVLine:

On a personal note: Having interviewed Glasberg dozens of times over the years, I need to express that as showrunners go, he was among the upper echelon of humans, a man who spoke of his product with a genuine zeal and pride, as TV’s most-watched drama kept putting up big numbers year after year after, weathering many changes. He would always thank you for reporting on the show, but he also took criticism well. “He gave good quote,” as I say, and he will be missed.

Glasberg had an atypical rise to the #1 show in the world. He started his career writing children’s programming – Rugrats, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Duckman – before moving to a few one-season dramas. He wrote and produced for Crossing Jordan, Bones, Shark and The Mentalist before joining NCIS.

He wrote the season premieres for the last few NCIS seasons, including last week’s “Rogue”. He wrote the NCIS: New Orleans embedded pilot for the mothership and was that program’s executive producer.

Glasberg leaves behind a wife, TV writer Mimi Schmir, who wrote most recently for Grey’s Anatomy, two sons (Dash and Eli), his father (Edwin) and sister (Mindy). Awful, awful news.

Agnes Nixon died. Nixon was the power behind All My Children and One Life to Live after writing for As the World Turns, Search For Tomorrow, Another World and Guiding Light. This is how famous she was for running soaps – my Dad knew “Mrs. Nixon” ran the two ABC soaps. I don’t think he knew anyone who ran two primetime television series.

Agnes Nixon was 93. She looked 55.

Saturday Night Live will be hosted by Lin-Manuel Miranda on October 8th with Twenty-One Pilots as the music guest. I love me some Twenty-One Pilots:

FXX renewed You’re the Worst for a fourth season.

ABC cut the order for Imaginary Mary, a mid-season series, to nine episodes for 13.

Chicago PD casting news )

Good second week showings for both Bull and This is Us with both shows losing a little ground but not a lot from their series premieres. Both shows are off next week for the debates.

Off to bed.
